Minoru Kikuchi
Performing with various groups in New York City area since 1984. Teaching privately since 1990.
Born in northern Japan, and started to play acoustic guitar at age 12 and performed, singing Japanese pop songs accompanied with his guitar, also learned classical guitar from his schoolmate. Later on, he started to play electric guitar and formed his own group along with his schoolmates in a same high school. His group's repertoire for performance included his originals and covers from album "Blow by Blow" by Jeff beck. After graduated high school, Minoru moved to Tokyo to attend music school for two years. After he finished his first year, he was able to earn a scholarship to finish his major of Jazz / fusion guitar and advanced music theory for the 2nd year. While he was living in Tokyo, he kept moving into old apartments that were falling down and ended up moving to New York City in 1984. He learned jazz guitar under Ted Ted Dumber, Rick Stone also studied Jazz improvisations with John Isely (Saxophonist) in NYC. He perfumed with New Jersey funk rock group called "Blue Number Nine" in year 1995 through 2004 and participated their first three CDs and toured in buffalo and Cleveland several time,also co-wrote songs with band's lead vocalist Stefanie Seskin on an album "living it up in the new world".
