Jee Sun Lee
Born in Seoul, Korea Jee Sun Lee (violin) began her violin studies at the age of six. At age nine, Ms. Lee was chosen as a soloist with Korean chamber orchestra in Sokrisan Music Festival. While attending Yewon Middle School of Music and Seoul Arts high School, she won several national competitions including Korean Daily Newspaper, Yook Young, Woleum, Chosun Daily Newspaper and Segue Daily Newspaper competitions. She went on to her studies at Seoul National University, where she received her Bachelor of Music degree. She was a Grand Prize winner of the Nanpa Music competition in the category of all instruments, in addition to winning the First-Prize in the violin category. After winning Chosun Daily Newspaper Audition, Ms. Lee gave her first debut recital in Sejong recital hall in 1999. She continued graduate studies at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, where she finished her Master of Music degree as a full tuition scholarship candidate. An active and passionate chamber musician, Jee Sun Lee is a member of ˇ°Sound Clockˇ±, contemporary chamber music players and also a founding member of Ka-Eum soloists and has given concerts at the University of Rochester and Memorial Art Gallery. Ms. Lee was invited to Russia as a soloist with The Ensemble of the Soloists Sofia in 2003. In 2005, she received her doctoral degree at the Stony Brook University under Philip Setzer of world renowned Emerson String Quartet and Pamela Frank as a full scholarship candidate. Since 2004, Ms. Lee has been a member of New York Sinfonietta and Westchester Chamber Orchestra. Ms. Lee was a former faculty at the Stony Brook University, pre-college division and Long Island Conservatory, and she currently teaches at the Concordia College, NY.
