Dr. Isabelle Ganz
Mezzo-soprano Isabelle Ganz is a member of the Voice Faculty of Lamar University in Beaumont, TX, in addition to maintaining an active studio of private voice students in Houston. She has been a Fulbright Scholar (1997) and received a National Endowment for the Arts Solo Recitalist grant (1992). She has premiered and recorded many works composed for her, including "Ryoanji for Voice and Percussion" by John Cage. She has appeared as vocal soloist in Milan, Amsterdam, Bonn, Paris, Istanbul, Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, Bogata, Athens, Vilnius, San Juan, Seoul, Bucharest, Quebec, and in cities throughout the U.S. Her most recent recording is of Luciano Berio's "Sequenza III" for the Mode label She has also recorded for Opus One, Leonarda, Spectrum, Aulos/Koch/Schwann, Master Musicians Collective, Global Village, and Tecnosaga (Gershwin songs). Dr. Ganz's students have been prize winners in many vocal competitions. In her private studio she works with classical performers as well as crossover and pop singers, teaching them the technique of healthy belting.
Dr. Ganz also offers workshops in pitch memory, rhythmic coordination, ensemble singing and improvisation. In her "playshops" she uses imaginative and playful dramatic exercises that lead to creating mini-operas.
