Giacomo Franci
Giacomo Franci has achieved recognition as outstanding pianist, international recording
artist, teacher, conductor, and producer capturing the attention of the public and critics alike.
Giacomo Franci has become a fast rising virtuoso since his 1998 debut at Carnegie Recital Hall in conjunction with the remarkable review published in the Italian Music Magazine "Musica" in which he was compared to Glenn Gould and Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli.
Giacomo Franci is the leading interpreter of the music of Aaron Copland.He has earned this recognition since his world premiere recording "The Complete Edited Piano Works by A.Copland". A triple CD on Fone' Classics.Shortly thereafter Mr. Franci made his debut in Alice Tully Hall, Lincoln Center for the centennial of Copland's birthday.
The C.D. has been sold-out. A great result not only based on outstanding reviews but also on the incredible attention from the public, a very rare thing nowadays.
He recently signed a new contract with C.R.S. to record music by William Bolcom.
Mr. Franci hails from Tuscany. He studied with Gaetano Gaeta and Giampiero Semeraro to get his Bachelor's Degree in Piano from the Boccherini Music Institute in Lucca.
Then ,he was awarded his Master's Scholarship from the Scuola di Alto Perfezionamento Musicale in Saluzzo studying with Jean Fassinat and Aldo Ciccolini.
He studied conducting with Piero Bellugi and Gustav Kuhn at Teatro Comunale di Pisa.
Over the last few seasons Mr. Franci has had engagements in U.S.A, Italy, England,
Finland and Turkey where he has been soloist with the CRR Symphony Orchestra. He has appeared in Radio and T.V.Channels such as New York One, ABC, WPIX, Manhattan Cable,and Hofstra University Radio in, Blusat Radio2000(an hour long interview to an audience of over 2 million people) and Antenna 3 .
In previous years Giacomo Franci started his Concert Career in Italy with appearances in Teatro Comunale "Guglielmi", Teatro San Filippo di Torino, Circolo della Musica di Bologna, Teatro Comunale di Ferrara .
A New York resident since 1994 he is married to the jazz vocalist Dori Levine.They have a teaching practice in Tribeca, New York City.
He is the Artistic Director and the Conductor of the New York Chamber Players. He recently formed this excellent Chamber Orchestra and has held the New York debut at CAMI Concert Hall on May 2004 with the Bach Piano Concerto in d min. BWV.1052
