I have had my own vocal studio for 7 years, teaching students from ages 10 to 70. I instruct those who are beginners, and offer coaching for auditions and performance as well as long term instruction for serious and future professionals. I work extensively on breathing techniques, vocal placement, ease and relaxation while singing. The final emphasis however, is on "telling the story" of the song, being the messenger, letting the song be the star. What is most important is to connect with your material so you can then give of yourself in every song and in turn connect with your listener. My studio presents two showcases each year to highlight work done during the year and to stretch the performing skills of each student. Use of the microphone, working on a stage, singing with skilled musicians and performing at a professional club before an audience are all very vital parts of their performing experience. I have been a professional actress and singer since l976. After University, I studied in New York at Circle in the Square Acting School and with Maurice Jampol,who was my vocal coach. Since the mid 80's I have studied with Michael Jones and now teach the methods and techniques he's taught me. I have lived and worked in London and Paris as a teacher and singer. In Paris I performed nightly at the Westminster Hotel and in other clubs and in London, I worked both in the West End (theater district) and in Cabaret clubs as well.
