Mary MacRae
Mary MacRae is an instructor of flute in the Seattle area. A (Cum Laude) graduate of CWU, Mary earned her Bachelor of Arts in Music: Classical Flute Performance with a minor in piano. Mary's flute studies have continued under Tadeu Coelho, Felix Skowronek, Scott Goff, Paul Taub, Pamela Mooney, Klaus Liebetanz and Pamela Ryker. Mary also studied Suzuki Pedagogy under Kenichi Ueda.
Mary performs locally as a soloist, with chamber ensembles, and is affiliated with the Seattle Philharmonic Orchestra.
Mary teaches out of her private studio in the Lynnwood / Mill Creek / Bothell areas.
Private flute lessons entail:
1) Attentiveness to tone production: The most beautiful technique in the world cannot be enjoyed without an awe-inspiring tone through all registers of the flute.
2) Attention to technique: Technique is a basic building block of music. It is required to relax, live, feel, play and breathe the music.
3) Correct Breathing: Breath gives life to music. Music must be alive to be enjoyed, both by the artist and the audience!
4) Repertoire: This is where we apply the tone and technique learned. It is our reward for the application of our time and our, "breath of fresh air!"
Students of Mary MacRae have won auditions into the Everett Youth Symphony, Cascade Youth Symphony, and the Pacific NW Horsfall Flute Competition. They have performed in the Young Artist's Recitals (at the annual Seattle Flute Fair), at Christmas Concerts, at Retirement Home Performances, and at Annual Spring Recitals.
